Education through Sport 

Hi there, my name is Audrey Alford. I moved around a lot growing up so am not really from one specific place. I have lived in Ohio, California, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, and Michigan. Growing up I was involved in a variety of sports, however chose to pursue the sport of volleyball. While my home was constantly changing, one thing that remained the same was my love for learning both in school as well as in sport and spreading this love to others.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As a student I was interested in a variety of subjects particularly psychology. This love for understanding individuals personality and mental processes led me to major in this subject as my undergrad. I was also a student athlete and played division one volleyball which led me here to Michigan State University. I am currently finishing up my playing career as well as my masters degree in education in sport with an emphasis in leadership and coaching.

Another aspect of my teaching that I hope to spread to others in my community is the importance of helping others. I have been lucky enough to travel and volunteer to many places through sport as well as simply helping those locally. A couple years ago I traveled to Haiti to help those impacted by the hurricane. It is my hope to spread the love for learning and the positive impact sport and athletics can have on young people through a physical education program. Breaking down how sport can benefit young people through education is the primary goal of my teaching and portfolio.
