ED- 800 Educational Inquiry
Instructor -
Nate Clason
This course sought to instruct students about the different forms of inquiry and how they have been illustrated by different people over the course of time. The class was broken down into six different modules each describing a different form of inquiry. I had not previously learned about each form of inquiry and found ways to incorporate them into my teaching. Each form of inquiry was given a description using an individual that illustrated and originated the method in education that could be applied to everyday teaching. While each form of inquiry is quite different, there are certain elements of each that can be incorporated into coaching and instructing of young people.
EAD- 805 Admin Higher Education
Instructor -
Brandon Cantwell

Administration in Higher Education incorporated the many different elements of administration at the collegiate level. The course highlighted multiple requirements necessary in administration for a University to be successful as well as the levels needed to reach that point. Through the many different facets illustrated by the readings regarding administration, it was clear to me that Higher Education requires a great deal of organization as well as a strong work ethic. Each assignment as well as the course teachings added to my knowledge of not only administration, but also the differences in higher education and teaching young people. While I do not plan on being an administrator at this level, the lessons learned in this course can be applied to my own teaching.

Summer 2019
KIN 856- Basis Of Coaching Athletes
Instructor - Dr. Anthony Moreno
This course primarily discussed the physical aspects of aching and sport emphasizing the anatomy of the human body when exercising. As a coach the course made it clear that one should be well versed in the many different levels of exercise, and incorporating this at different levels. Regardless of skill level the same muscles and body structure are used for similar sports and knowing how to reach peak performance is key to success. The anatomy along with the physical understanding of the human body depending on sport that was incorporated into this course gave me a great insight into my own methods of coaching in the future.
KIN 829- Safety and Injury Control
Instructor -
Jessica Wallace
Safety and Injury Control really was centered around understanding Injury itself and how as a coach it is your responsibility to do all that you can to ensure that you are creating a safe environment for these children to grow. The drills that one conducts as well as everything that they ask of their players should be focused on safety and progression rather than pushing to the max. This class really opened my eyes to the many injuries that were primarily present in my sport, and helped me to explore ways to prevent these specific injuries through coaching strategies.
Fall 2019
KIN 855- Psychosocial Basis of Coaching
Instructor -
Dr. Andy Driska
This course was centered around elements of coaching as well as learning that I had not previously focused on in my instruction. Rather than simply the physical elements of sport, it incorporated elements of phycological methods in sport coaching as well as the importance of relationship between coach and players as well as player to player. Research conducted in this course helped me to understand the importance of communication and developing positive body language and communication habits with ones team to ensure that they know how much you respect and want to listen to their voices.
KIN 857- Promoting Positive Youth Development in Sport
Instructor -
Dr. Jennifer Nalepa
This course developed my knowledge in promoting sports positively across many different environments and situations. By illustrating the phycological as well as physical results of positive development in athletes through positive reinforcement and different styles of instruction, the class provided an firsthand accounts of positive development in youth sports. Not only did we discuss school programs and club, but also community outreach programs as well. After taking this course I have a better understanding of how to focus ones attention and resources into creating the best and most positive experience for these children when it comes to sport.
ED- 870 Capstone Seminar
Instructor-
Dr. Matthew Koehler
This course incorporated all my previous work in my graduate program and helped me to create a website that encompassed all this hard work. It sought to highlight each element of the learning process and brining it all to a place that could be seen by others. Throughout the course we interacted with other individuals in the program to better understand our knowledge on each subject and incorporated these ideas into our websites.
